Been pretty busy lately, so haven’t had a chance to blog, or the motivation when I did have the time to relax. Christmas is over, Patrick’s wedding is over (I tell people I got a sister in-law for Christmas), and life is pretty much back to normal. Now if the rain would go away, I might just get motivated to go outside and take some more pictures…
I bought a new cuckoo clock the weekend before last. I used to have one years ago, that I brought home from Germany. My old property managers stole it best we can figure (we think that we forgot it on the wall in the final clean out of the house, but the next day it was gone and of course they didn’t have any idea what I was talking about…)
Anyways, they were half off when I was in Leavenworth, so I got a new one. It’s better than my old one (in design only… it could never be cooler than one I brought home from Germany). It plays music on the half hour and the hour (Edelweiss I believe) and the little people dance. I like it.
Saw this on another blog, it creates a word cloud of whatever you put into it. I stuck in all the text from all the posts on here, this is what was generated. You can make your own on their site.
Applesauce, yogurt, jell-o, and all this other mushy crap I have to eat. If you’re confused why, I had my wisdom teeth pulled Friday (yesterday) morning. I’m so terribly hungry and all I can eat is more of this same stuff. Boo…
Feeling good otherwise, I went to one of my youth group student’s graduation last night and to a different student’s graduation party today, so getting around isn’t a big problem. Only hunger.
Once upon a time I made the observation that my dentist sucked (which was true), and decided to stop going to the dentist altogether (which was stupid). That was 10 years ago, and so by now I have a few cavities and a need my wisdom teeth out. I had 4 fillings this morning, it was a cool $1000. At least I can feel most of my mouth again.
I have 3-4 more appointments to go… I’m so glad I waited so that I could pay for all this myself.
I used to go hiking a lot growing up, probably at least once a month during the warm-ish parts of the year. It’s something I look back on quite fondly, and regret losing touch with in the process of growing up (and fat… thank you otherwise great desk job).
Thankfully, it’s nothing that a good pair of boots and an ample supply of ibuprofen can’t remedy. I’m looking at a fewsmallhikes this summer, mostly stuff that can be done on a Saturday or over a weekend, and a lot of places I’ve been to years ago. The one I’m looking most forward to though is a trip from Colonial Creek Campground (next to Diablo Lake on Highway 20) over Park Creek Pass into Steheken. The first 10 miles is through old growth forest, and the next 10 over the pass is supposed to have simply breathtaking views. The park service has a detailed description.
For the record… I don’t like American Idol. I make fun of my roommate every time he watches it. That said, we both cracked up when this came on (and the other hosts made fun of the mean guy…)
